At Cogent Solutions Group we are passionate about sustainability. The future of our environment is particularly important to us, as a company we encourage sustainable practices wherever possible.  At Cogent Solutions we conduct business in a socially responsible manner, we aim to protect the environment for future generations by implementing the following practices in our daily business activities:
 

 

• Reduce consumption of non-renewable energy with the installation of solar panels in 2020 at our warehouse factory. During daytime hours our entire coffee factory is powered by solar.

 

• We use recycled and biodegradable packaging where possible. We have partnered with Biopak who sell biodegradable and compostable coffee cups, coffee lids, utensils and serving trays. We use biopak as our number 1 supplier of takeaway coffee ware.

 

• We developed biodegradable and compostable pods as a part of our product offering in 2019. These pods are made of 100% plant based materials, meaning that the whole entire capsule can be placed into a composting facility where it will break down to C02 and gas within 6 weeks under the correct temperatures.
   

 

• We aim to reduce our waste by recycling and re-using paper, coffee bags, bulk coffee hessian bags and pallets to reduce our waste output. The local community has free collection of used hessian bags as well as coffee roasting biproducts for their gardens.
   

 

• In 2018 we spent time overseas working with a group of young women in a program called Gente Del Futuro, where we spent two weeks visiting their farms.  In this time we taught them about modern coffee business, the benefits of implementing sustainable farming practices for higher yields with low impact. While abroad we developed a strong understanding of the coffee market and build relationships with farmers. We are a part of supporting the reintroduction of a sustainable coffee industry in Timor Leste.
   

 

• We source our green coffee from reputable coffee trading companies. Our Primary supplier is Origin Coffee Traders who purchase all coffee beans through longstanding supply partners who comply with global ethical standards. Origin Coffee Traders regularly visit these farms to complete audits to ensure that all operations are within ethical and sustainable guidelines.
